History

In 1965, J.Garland Warren, of Denton, Texas, came to San Marcos to visit a friend. While visiting, he needed some milk for his babies from the store so he asked his friend where the closest convenience store was located.  He was told that there was only one convenience store in San Marcos.It was early Sunday evening when they arrived at the ONLY store in San Marcos. The manager was closing his store and was setting a mouse trap on the counter. At this time, Garland decided that San Marcos was in desperate need of another convenience store and the rest is convenience store history.

Garland returned to San Marcos to choose some potential store sites to purchase. He chose three prime locations in San Marcos. The best location, he felt, was the intersection of Moore Street and Hopkins.He had a "gut" feeling about this business venture. So, with money he had earned building houses and fences along with earnings from playing in the Canadian Professional Football Club, he was able to have enough capital to put down on his first loan to purchase the corner and build the first SAC-N-PAC convenience store. Since 1966 SAC-N-PAC has grown into a chain of 48 stores located in San Marcos, New Braunfels, Canyon Lake, Kyle, Buda, Neiderwald, Bastrop, Elgin and Manchaca Texas. Garland Warren maintained this family-owned business for the past 40 years. All three children Blair, Blake, and Cheryl chose to work in the family business at an early age and have purchased the business from their parents.
