In 1965, Janelle and J. Garland Warren, of Denton, Texas, came to San Marcos to visit a friend. While visiting, they needed some milk for their babies. Garland asked his friend where the closest convenience store was located. He was told that there was only one store in San Marcos. Upon entering the store, the manager was closing and had set a mouse trap on the counter. Garland convinced the manager to let him in to purchase some milk, but the milk was out of date. At this time, Garland decided that San Marcos, a growing college town, was in desperate need of another convenience store.
Garland returned to San Marcos to choose potential store sites to purchase. He chose three prime locations in San Marcos. The best location, he felt, was the intersection of Moore Street and Hopkins. He had a "gut" feeling about this business venture. With the money he had made building houses and fences in addition to earnings from playing in the Canadian Professional Football Club, he was able to procure his first loan. Since 1966, SAC-N-PAC has grown into a chain of 45 stores located throughout Comal, Hays and surrounding counties. Garland Warren and his dedicated team grew and maintained the business.
In 1998, Blair, Blake, and Cheryl Warren, their children, purchased the business from both Janelle and Garland Warren. In 2009, after many years of dedicated service, Blake Warren has stepped down and pursued other avenues while Blair and Cheryl Warren continue to own and operate the family business.Under the leadership of C.E.O. / President Kevin Brumley and his dedicated team, SAC-N-PAC serves their local customers with their all time reliable slogan . . . In addition to convenience stores SAC-N-PAC STORES Inc. owns and operates three Kentucky Fried Chicken and Long John Silver’s restaurants located in Kyle, Buda, Elgin and (Bastrop opening in 2010) Texas. These restaurants serve hot and fresh food with a smile to travelers and locals alike.
